On this level it proves welcome relief from the dearth of dumbed-down romances that populate the genre, but it’s not without a few favoured tropes. There’s no getting away from the fact that Bethany is beautiful and successful or Brent is charismatic and devilishly handsome, but Lewis wields a deft pen that keeps it real and when the sparks finally start flying you can be assured she pitches it perfectly, keeping us on tenterhooks as to whether Bethanys head or heart will ultimately decide the choice she seems fated to make.
